***Gifted in exchange for my honest review ***
Thanks to Bottom Draw Publishing and Ms Irwin for allowing me to continue to review this awesome series.
This series is a companion series, where there are 2 separate books based on the same timeline told by each of the characters that are our main focus our star crossed lovers, Evie Meyers and Clay Jacobs
Michelle Irwin has done more than just duplicate each plot as some authors have done in the past, and as a reader I am so glad of this. its frustrating to pick up a book and find its the same story but just told by the other main characters point of view.
Now this world started with our series told in Evie’s POV which is the Daughter Of Fire Series and Ms Irwin gave us a new twist on the Supernatural species, which I just loved, the series has grown from strength to strength and has been made stronger with Clay’s POV on the secret sect of humans who dedicate their lives to destroying all supes ‘The Rain’. This dual POV series really gives the reader a greater depth into both sides of these opposing sides.
We start with our couple hidden away in a remote cabin in the wilderness, and this is a bit of a change after the tenseness of the other books, it was a nice change for us to chill and see our couple recouping and training so that Evie can protect herself without having to utilise the Phoenix powers.
But when the Fae Aiden unexpectedly appears they realise they may have not been that hidden after all. Clay has more than just his jealousy to deal with when Aiden explains why he has sought them out. The Fae need Clay’s help to rescue a fledgling that ‘The Rain’ have kidnapped.
Eivie starts to see glimpses of the ‘Shadow’ that has been dogging her every step and this also causes issues, not only with her sanity but the rescue mission.
OK this book gets 5 full stars even though Ms Irwin leaves us with a cracker of a CLIFFHANGER!!! YEP be warned you will be left gasping at the end of this book.
BUT – Wait… before you get all up in arms – Ms Irwin has had her readers hearts on her mind and has spoken to her publishers and YAY we do not have to wait until October to find out what happens next… We just have to wait until June. Yes They are switching Book 3 of Clays series to October so we can find out sooner what is in store for our courageous Evie, who always tries to put other peoples safety first before her own.
So my closing thoughts on this book…
Ms Irwin has really put the bar up high with this one, With some returning characters that reveal some surprising news that I seriously DID NOT SEE COMING! I find that I can see plot twists easily – but yep I was like ‘WTF’ ‘OMG’
There is also a little sub character that I wouldn’t mind knowing more about – hint hint Ms Irwin!
Roll On June
