Grace Rivers is your everyday twenty-five year old. She could have the world at her feet, but instead chooses to help run the family business. After
experiencing great loss early in her life, Grace values what’s most important: her family and friends. But she aches to find that certain someone—that one great, passionate love who values family as much as she does.
Cole Tierney loves his life. He has a wonderful family, a loyal best friend and a successful career as an ER doctor. The only downside is he wants someone to
share it with. After being used and left heartbroken, he wants to find someone who will love him for him and not his or his family’s status.
“Every beat my heart makes is for you. Every time it beats faster it’s because of you—because you’re near me, because of your smile—because you take my breath away.”
Their two hearts collide by chance and an undeniable connection is quickly made. But when others are plotting against their happiness, will their love flatline, or will the rhythm of their hearts continue to beat as one?
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
** This book is recommended for people over 18 years due to strong language and sexual content.**
I received a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review for the Tour.
This book is the Velvet Reed Debut Novel, and she has started with a BANG!!!
I loved the MC – Grace Rivers is your everyday twenty-five year old. She’s put family first as that means more to her than Financial gain or status (YAY a girl I can relate too).
One unforeseen accident leads her to meet every womans dream…
Dr Cole Tierney – the HAWT ER doctor. He’Cole has been burned in the past (Stuck up Biatch of an Ex does what she does best, adding drama to the story line, and Boy did I want to give Cole a swift slap sometimes because of Miranda!)
The attraction that Cole feels towards Grace means he takes a chance and tracks her down to ask her for a date.
I like the way that Ms Reed has made the story flow, with the supporting characters doing a great job in giving depth and a different perspective to the overall plot, Ashley – Gracie’s BFF and Sam who is the Brother/Best friend of Cole (I hope to see more of the sparks going on between the two BFF’s in Book 2).
John, Olivia are Cole’s parents and sister, April are great, and there is an unexpected connection to Grace’s family, which is Dad, Bryan and Brother Charlie, of course not forgetting Ruby – Grace’s niece, who is the reason that Grace meets Cole in the first place.
now to what I didn’t like (this is my personal thought and I have not marked the book down because of it) – there was a certain sex scene (Cole alone in the shower) which I felt was too descriptive, and not really necessary to the overall story, I am not a prude at all – I just felt it was unnecessary, and the story would have just been as good with that part being a couple of lines instead.
The other was the Cliff Hanger Ending!!!!!! OMG I was so distraught last night I couldn’t sleep, and now I am going to STALK the Author until she gets Book 2 out ASAP(see there wasn’t much I didn’t like!)
In ending – this is a great story for Romance lovers, and the back stories that you can see developing between Ash & Sam and maybe even Charlie and a certain nurse at the hospital???? we these thoughts and of course the Ending means I have already marked the other titles down TO BE READ!
NOTE: there are 6 books by the looks of this list: The Heart Series
Velvet Reed is the pen name of an avid book lover, reviewer and blogger who has turned writer. Born and raised in Sydney, Australia; she is a city girl at heart but loves the laid back lifestyle of living in country New South Wales. Married to her first and only love, she is a devoted mother of three who juggles her very active children and their many extracurricular activities, working in the middle of the night, running a blog, and writing.
Velvet’s love of reading was realized only 3 short years ago after the death of her amazing father. She used the escape into the fictional world to help her through her grief and post natal depression, not releasing the great impact so many talented authors would have on her life.
